New Website for Canadian Partnership for Stroke Recovery

Did you know that more than 405,000 Canadians live with long-term stroke disability, and that the number will double in 20 years?

We didn’t either until we launched a new website for the Canadian Partnership for Stroke Recovery.

They came to us a few months ago because they needed a new website that better told the story of why stroke recovery is so important. That’s because stroke recovery is a huge public health issue in Canada.

The Problem

CPSR’s old WordPress website was outdated and it made managing content difficult and time consuming. Something we so often see with a poorly designed website is that it becomes difficult or impossible to make sure the right people see the right content.

Our Solution

We built them a new website on the Drupal CMS. More specifically, we built it on the latest version, Drupal 8, which makes it much easier to manage and translate content. Being on the latest version of Drupal also means that it will be supported for years to come. The website also loads quickly, so it provides a great end-user experience.

We started by working with the client to develop a new sitemap to help make the navigation much more intuitive so people can find what they are looking for without getting frustrated. We then created a “Content Map” which is a unique step in our website design and development process that we have implemented to help us and our clients bridge the sitemap to the content of the website. We work together to create the content map so that we can build better wireframes and to make content development less painful.

We also implemented an emerging solution to the age-old problem of website homepage sliders that takes inspiration from Canada.ca. This new approach allows you to select multiple image and text options that “shuffle” each time the site loads, rather than bogging down the browser by loading all of them at the same time in a carousel.

The Results

Working collaboratively, we were able to deliver the final website ahead of schedule. But don’t take our word for it…

“It was an absolute pleasure to work with the Cyan team on the redesign and relaunch of the Heart and Stroke Foundation Canadian Partnership for Stroke Recovery website. Cyan’s team worked with my very tight deadline and they delivered high-quality  work ahead of schedule. Not only that, all members of the team assigned… were great to work with. I would highly recommend Cyan Solutions.”
