The Federation for the Humanities and Social Sciences (FHSS) promotes research, learning and an understanding of the contributions made by the humanities and the social sciences. With a membership comprised of universities, colleges and scholarly associations, the Federation represents a diverse community of researchers and graduate students across Canada.
We have worked with the Federation on a number of projects since we first met in 2011. We were part of a very exciting time in their growth and had the privilege of working with them on a complete organizational re-brand. Most recently, we've been collaborating together on the Congress 2017 website - a project we've had the opportunity to work on for the past several years.
After making a decision to rename and rebrand their organization, the Federation was in need of a new corporate identity and they came to us for its creation. The result: a beautiful, thoughtful logo that's paired with a complementary visual identifier. The corporate identity reflects the organization's national voice in the field of humanities and social sciences while the visual identifier, which is considered to be the secondary element of the Federation brand, embodies the part of the Federation that is about creativity, about challenging and about change.
We then expanded their brand and applied their new look and feel to a range of creative assets, including banner stands, trade show displays, the Federation website and much more.
To ensure brand consistency across all collateral and to ensure the integrity of their brand is not compromised, we created a Standards Manual to help our client understand the do's and don'ts of their brand.
Of course, with a full organizational rebrand comes the need to update the website. Cyan applied the Federation's new brand to a fully responsive site (ideas-idees.ca) which includes social media and blog integration, event registration and links to their various events and project microsites - all based on the easy-to-use Drupal content management system (CMS).
The Federation also hosts an Annual Congress to bring together academics, researchers, policy-makers, and practitioners to share findings and ideas. Cyan Solutions has been developing this responsive website annually since 2013; the most recent being Congress 2017 (congress2017.ca).
